Hooray! The second Offbeat Crimes box set is out this week. :)
This one has both of Alex and Jason's stories and the second Carrington and Erasmus one (though that's also everyone's since it wraps up the series arc.)

It's finally springy here while I type this, which puts me in a hopeful, green frame of mind. There are more daffodils this year, so my separation campaign has worked, though the squirrels seem to have stolen the tulip bulbs again despite the blood meal. Oh well. In writing news, because you didn't come for a gardening blog: The Amazon links are here for The Mage on the Hill! Up for pre-order now in all countries that I've checked (UK, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Australia, Canada) and releasing May 7. Pre-order links are available everywhere else as well including, of course, at the publisher. :) Amazon Dreamspinner Barnes and Noble Kobo iBooks The first box set of Offbeat Crimes stories releases this coming Tuesday at Pride Publishing. That's the first three books in the series for only $4.99. A steal if there ever was one.
The second set is due out April 16. Chipping away at the current WIP's.
Progress is ongoing for Detonations and Devotions: Lijun 3, in which Tally and Haru just have a lovely life and nothing at all goes wrong. (If you are screaming liar, liar, pants on fire! at this point, you would be correct.) Also making good progress on the next Brimstone, The Hunt for Red Fluffy. Looks to be about halfway there? I gave up predicting word count for Shax some time ago, though, so let's just say we're at least a third, possibly more. This is a fun thing releasing next month. The Offbeat Crimes series will be released in two box sets. This first one contains: Lime Gelatin and Other Monsters The Pill Bugs of Time Skim Blood and Savage Verse For a steal of a price, too. :D Also wanted to mention that the first industry review of The Mage on the Hill is scheduled in Foreword Magazine next month.
I'm both excited and quite terrified. :o Hi all! I had an open slot this week, so I thought I'd go delve into the backlist. I feel like I've read this scene before, but it's been some time and now there's Edgar. ;) Lime Gelatin and Other Monsters
Offbeat Crimes 1 Pride Publishing Amazon Kobo Barnes and Noble iBooks Kyle Monroe’s encounter with a strange gelatinous creature in an alley leaves him scarred and forever changed, revealing odd abilities he wishes he didn’t have and earning him reassignment to a precinct where all the cops have defective paranormal abilities. Just as he’s starting to adjust to his fellow misfit squad mates, Kyle’s new partner arrives. Tall, physically perfect, reserved, and claiming he has no broken psychic talents, Vikash Soren irritates Kyle in every way. But as much as he’d like to hate Vikash, Kyle finds himself oddly drawn to him, their non-abilities meshing in unexpected ways. If they can learn to work together, they might be able to stop the mysterious killer who has been leaving mutilated bodies along the banks of the Schuylkill. My big new news this week is an official release date for The Mage On The Hill - May 7, 2019 from Dreamspinner. This is the first installment of the new paranormal series The Web of Arcana, which now has its own web page on the site here. (Yay! ) Series blurb and book blurb are over there for now since they're not 100% official yet. Magic users, danger from within and from hidebound guild leaders, and occasional cookies. Cover will be coming soon! Also, don't forget that the final chapter of Endangered Fae releases next Tuesday! January 15 brings on the final chapter in Diego Sandoval's long, strange journey that started on the Brooklyn Bridge in Finn.
No Fae Is An Island Endangered Fae 4 releasing January 15, 2019 Pride Publishing Amazon Barnes and Noble Kobo iBooks Which is now this year, of course, and time for me to tell you what's on the buffet for the coming months. The calendar list on the home page now shows 2019 - and you may notice there's not a lot on it yet. What the heck, Angel?
This is partly because I've only included things that have an actual or approximate release date so far, and partly because I'm trying so very hard not to over commit myself this year. We'll see how that goes... Coming up this month:
Other things I'm hoping for this year:
And that's it. That's all I'm saying about this year. Let the words fall where they may! I've run out of books to read to you - yes, I've read all the books in the world. (No, not really - I had an opening this week.) So, this week we delve into the backlist for a scene from the AURA series. Because I felt like it. :D The AURA books are available singly, at all the usual places and also in a handy Box Set.
AURA Series Angel Martinez, Bellora Quinn AURA, the Agency of Unnatural Resettlement and Assimilation: it’s a weird job, but somebody’s got to do it. A magical catastrophe tears the fabric of reality, causing unpredictable holes between worlds through which anything might fall—elves, centaurs, trolls, yeti. The brave officers and employees of AURA struggle daily to help the lost and injured, and contain the irretrievably violent while their research staff scramble to find a way to reverse the effect. Anything can and does pop through into the human world, sometimes with disastrous and deadly results. It’s a race against time to see if the AURA mages can repair reality and stop the inter-dimensional flood before something crosses over that proves strong enough to destroy the world. Pride Publishing Amazon Barnes and Noble Kobo Happy Solstice, everyone! May your hearth be warm and your household merry! This week I'm reading from No Fae Is An Island: Endangerd Fae 4, which releases on January 15 (sorry, I get the date wrong in the recording) and is up for pre-order now. :) This one wraps up the series! No Fae Is An Island
Endangered Fae 4 releasing January 15, 2019 Pride Publishing Amazon Barnes and Noble Kobo iBooks Three years ago, Danu banished Diego from the human world for a time. Three years and three days doesn’t seem that long to be away from home but time among the wild fae can change a man and the human world returns the favor by changing while he’s gone. There’s a vampire on Tearmann Island’s security force. A curious selkie’s followed him home. So much to do to keep the world safe…but Diego’s no longer sure he has the right to interfere. Theo Aguilar started his vampire life on the wrong side of the law. He’s killed and knows he’s dangerous if he doesn’t stay in control every moment. But the fae took him in and Prince Lugh has given him a position of trust. So when Diego and Finn are arrested on a diplomatic mission far from home, he knows his duty. He’s striking out on his own to rescue them, a lone vigilante once again, this time for the good guys. The only glitch? The selkie, Limpet, can’t seem to understand the alone part. I'm in that space now where nothing's really due, everything coming up is in edits, and I have room to work on all the things.
You know that means I've been baking and doing everything but starting something new, right? To be fair, it is the holidays and I do have family obligations, but I can't let this go on too long. There are things to get back to. So where am I now?
Look for Yule Planet next - coming later this month! Almost there! Trysts and Burning Embers: Lijun 2 launches on Tuesday! I'll be in Barbados visiting family, but I'll try to keep on top of release stuff (and send pics :D ) Tally and Haru should have some peace now to work out their relationship, right? Yeah... the world has other ideas. Also, because I forget to mention it and the November edition just went out - if you'd like to sign up for my newsletter with all the comprehensive updates and things to come, you can find that on the home page or here: Angel Martinez - Writing News ![]() Fire. Water. Burn. In the two months since the All Hallows’ Eve party, Tally has courted Haru, buying expensive gifts, taking the two of them to upscale restaurants and trying to find a balance in earning Haru’s fragile trust while being new parents to the Cohen joeys. Tally sees hope in the new domesticity the family has settled into, despite having some bumps along the way. Gifts and treats have satisfied Haru’s otter, but the human half remembers the brutal lessons of giving their trust away. How can two lijun who barely know each other anticipate what will happen when times get tough? There are circumstances Tally doesn’t understand yet, and Haru struggles to find their feet with an Urusar who doesn’t know the rules. A revelation not only throws the tentative relationship between them askew, but also starts Tally and Haru down a path the two of them can’t escape, one so heart-wrenching Haru’s not sure their heart will survive. Traditionalist concerns that have always nipped at the Bastille clan’s heels come roaring to the forefront with demands and ultimatums. Tally needs to fall in line or face further threats to his otter, his family and his clan. Haru needs to find the strength to believe in the good despite the bad. In an environment where it’s vital to know ally from foe, Tally and Haru need to stand united or watch the community Tally’s family has built fall under the thumb of heartless, greedy autocrats.
