Hooray for a Friday that finally feels like fall! Today's reading is from Offbeat Crimes 5, which has it's general release next Tuesday - October 3. All the linkages below :) Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs Offbeat Crimes 5 Pride Publishing Pride Publishing (print edition) Amazon Kobo Apple All Animal Control Officer Jason Shen ever wanted was a quiet life of rescuing lost kittens and helping animals in need. Having a paranormal cop boyfriend guarantees an end to the quiet part. What at first seems like a random encounter with jackalopes in the park might be more than chance and when State Paranormal sends a handsome, charming vampire to consult with the Seventy-Seventh, he finds his relationship with Alex on shaky ground. Officer Alex Wolf hoped his humaning skills were improving but now he can’t unravel the strange politics at State Paranormal or why Jason’s family seems to hate him. There’s no time to puzzle things out, either. Bizarre animals are loose in the city, Jason’s acting strange—and is the vampire captain from State flirting with him? Wolf’s going to have to keep his head in the game if he’s going to have any chance of putting the pieces together and keeping the city safe from the strange critters terrorizing its streets.

The thing that's consuming most of my brain this week? Yaoi Con. (!!!) I'll be flying out next Thursday to Santa Clara and meeting the lovely Catherine Dair for Yaoi. J. Scott Coatsworth will be joining us on Sunday. :) The convention runs October 6-8, at the Hyatt Regency about 7 miles from the San Jose airport. Yaoi, Yuri, queer fiction of all sorts, panels, events (you know, Bishie Bingo, that sort of thing...) They do have day passes - come visit us in the Dealers' Room for Mischief Corner paperbacks, fun swag stuff, and Pip & Skip plushies! Where all the stuff is right now:
Okay. Let me see if I can remember all the things for this week. Always seem to forget something.
It's been a while since we visited the ESTO Universe. I've been writing on the funny side of things for so long, everyone may have forgotten I have a serious side... Prisoner 374215 An ESTO Universe Story Mischief Corner Books Amazon Kobo While the cell is sparse and cold, at least this one has a bed. The figure resting there is too thin; too still, the prominent bones the result of long starvation, the stillness the product of too much anguish and abuse. He watches, though. An anxious, intelligent mind still occupies this frail and failing body, one that watches and wonders about the new guard occupying his cell each night. I will agonize and dither over a title for a story for days - weeks! - and then complain about it to Freddy. Suddenly, the title's right there. Because sometimes brain needs a kickstart or perhaps just a kick. The holiday story, for inclusion in Mischief Corner Books A Holiday To Remember collection this year, will be titled "Safety Protocols for Human Holidays." This is not one of my more serious stories. I felt I needed to tell you that. (Ha!) Release date is scheduled for December 9. :D Also - quick reminder that I'll be at Yaoi Con this year (Oct. 6-8 in Santa Clara, CA) at the Mischief Corner Books table. Freddy MacKay will be there and Catherine Dair as our special guest. J. Scott Coatsworth will be joining us on Sunday. Come see us in the dealers room - come for a chat, a hug, some books and some bunnies!
So...there's this holiday story I'm not done with yet that I talk about in the recording. Just a wee bit of a teaser read of that today. Also, if you happen to be interested in Mischief Corner's holiday call, all the info is on the Submissions Page for the A Holiday To Remember collection. In brief bullet points:
It's here! Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs is available now at Pride Publishing's website for early download. If you have a favorite distributor that isn't Pride Publishing, the book is up for pre-order all of those places but you'll have to wait until October 3 - not so long now! Prepare for hoax animals galore, Alex Wolf, Jason Shen, Audacity (of course), all the officers and entities of the 77th and some fun new characters. :) Pride Publishing Amazon Kobo Apple iBooks Stuff happening right this moment? I'm taking a short break from novel writing and working on a holiday short story for Mischief Corner Book's A Holiday To Remember collection for this year. Yes, it will be SF and it will be (probably) a standalone story. It will also be a F/F story since MCB is accepting all queer pairings this year - yay! And that's all I'm telling you. Ha.
Back to the beginning here with Offbeat Crimes for a quick visit with Kyle in Lime Gelatin and Other Monsters, the story that started all this paranormal madness. :) As of next Tuesday, books 1-5 will be available over at Pride Publishing. 1-4 available there now and at all the regular lovely distributors. Jackalopes, ahoy!
