Sometimes reissues are untouched and released back into the wild as is. Sometimes they come back as vastly different animals. Gravitational Attraction My first published queer science fiction romance. Before this, I'd written SF under my own name, but not as an SFR or a space opera. This was my leap into writing one of my favorite genres. Originally published in 2012 through Silver Publishing, then in 2014 through Dreamspinner, GA has now been picked up at Mischief Corner Books with its lovely new cover. The exciting part is that finally all the ESTO Universe books will be in one place! Yaaaaay! There are no changes - GA will be re-released in its previous iteration May 11, 2021. Up for preorder now. B&N Amazon Kobo Apple Rarely Pure and Never Simple
Originally published in 2013, Rarely Pure and Never Simple was meant to be the first book in a three book series - Variant Configurations. Stuff and also things happened. The second book was never finished. The book has been in my hands and out of print for, hmm, some time. It's an early one of my books and needs some help. There are pacing issues, consistency issues, plain old errors, some cringey dialogue choices - the works. So RPaNS is currently going through a rewrite and more thorough edit. For fans of the story - never fear. The basic story remains intact. There will, however, be some moving around of things and some additions. I've added about 4K words so far. Scheduled for release this June, I don't have a date yet because the publisher is smart and knows it's best to let me finish before starting on a production schedule. My next project will be finishing Variant Configurations 2 - From the Noblest Motives, on the calendar for this summer. We'll see how I do. Happy Friday everyone! Today, I have something a little different for you. The schedule has The Anti-Quest up for Reading Day, but since I'd already done a version of the excerpt at RSM, I thought it might be fun to post the video. J. Scott Coatsworth and Rory Ni Coileain share the hour with me, so watch it all the way through or cherry pick, lol. Approximate start times: Scott: 1:37 minutes Angel: 9:56 Rory: 24:00 Discussion at the end: 38:00 The Anti-Quest
The Pudding Protocols Universe 3 by Angel Martinez Mischief Corner Books Amazon B&N Kobo Apple It's a simple old story—princess, dragon, knight—simple unless they're all the same person. Paladin Snillek's mother was human and ruled a planet. That's about the extent of her knowledge since they didn't see each other much. When her mom dies in a freak accident, her father tells Snillek she's inherited the title, and she has to learn how to pass as the mostly human Princess Siel for a planet she never thought about much. The dresses alone are horrifying and the courtiers aggravating. In a moment of frustrated rage, Snillek's princess persona slips and frightened palace staff misinterpret what they see. Now Paladin Snillek has been called upon to rescue Princess Siel…from herself. Gruyere wants desperately to journey into the wilds of Tarribotia, but it's too dangerous to go alone and so far, everyone's laughed at her for suggesting it. When she spots a Dzedek paladin sulking in a tavern, she offers her services, hoping to pass herself off as a rogue guide. Two women with secrets and possibly opposing goals head out into the hinterlands of a planet neither one of them knows well. They might both make it back by Winterfest if nothing eats them first. Hello, all and welcome to Friday! This week, I have an excerpt from the brand new anthology, Fix the World, specifically from the antho's organizer, J. Scott Coatsworth and his story "Rise". :D Scott asked for hopeful science fiction stories about addressing what's wrong with our current world and how the human race might face these challenges. "Rise" is one of the stories focused on the consequences of climate change - come have a listen. :) Fix the World
by J. Scott Coatsworth and 11 science fiction writers Amazon B&N Kobo Apple We're a world beset by crises. Climate change, income inequality, racism, pandemics, an almost unmanageable tangle of issues. Sometimes it's hard to look ahead and see a hopeful future. We asked sci-fi writers to send us stories about ways to fix what's wrong with the world. From the sixty-five stories we received, we chose twelve most amazing (and hopefully prescient) tales. Dive in and find out how we might mitigate climate change, make war obsolete, switch to alternative forms of energy, and restructure the very foundations of our society, The future's not going to fix itself. Well. I don't have to tell any of you that it's been quite the year. Erg.
In a way, it's been good to have a break from the convention-go-round. The run up to cons is always nerve-wracking for me. But. BUT. I miss going. I miss my friends, my tribes, the spaces where people understand and enjoy the same things. With vaccines ramping up, there is a possibility now (I don't say surety yet) that a shortened convention season might still happen this year. So far, the things still on the calendar:
I'm not restocking inventory just yet. Keeping an eye out. I do hope I can see some of you again this year! We've made it to Friday! This week, I have #12 in the Magic Emporium series - Haven by Morgan Brice. This is the last installment of our set of Emporium readings, so I'll have some info on the series down below, too. Haven is a paranormal mystery and you all know I love those! Come have a listen :) Haven Magic Emporium #12 by Morgan Brice Amazon KU Old secrets, hidden psychics, secret shifters, ghosts, scandals—and true love. A series of long-ago disappearances leads cold case private detective Austin Williams to investigate a troubled sanitarium. Jamie Miller is new in town, temporarily running the local historical association, and he willingly signs on to help solve Austin’s mystery. Sparks fly between them as they dig into the hospital’s troubled past. But someone wants the past to stay buried—and is willing to bury Austin and Jamie to keep it that way. Haven is part of the Magic Emporium series. Each book stands alone, but each one features an appearance by Marden’s Magic Emporium, a shop that can appear anywhere, but only once and only when someone’s in dire need. This book contains explicit scenes, action, mystery, hurt/comfort, geeks in love, supernatural secrets, a brave historian and a lovelorn private detective, plus a guaranteed HEA. It is loosely connected to my Fox Hollow series. The Magic Emporium - it can show up anywhere, but only when someone's in dire need. A dragon baker, an assassin, an incubus, a theoretical necromancer, sentient sourdough - there's something for everyone here!
