Always have been a big believer in Fairy Tales. Oh, not that I truly believe I'm going to meet Baba Yaga in the woods someday. Maybe. I probably don't believe that. I should say instead that I'm a believer in the power of Fairy Tales and have written several long-winded blog posts over the years about them.
Long and the short of it is this: Fairy Tales are for times of uncertainty. Really bad things happen and sometimes not everyone survives, but good wins in the end. They are stories to hold back the dark.
This is what attracts me to them and what's driven me to retell more than one.
For this week, I have Boots at Pride and up for pre-order at Amazon and Wild Rose, Silent Snow up for pre-order at Pride, both gay retellings and both set in modern day US spots.
