Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! The Hunt for Red Fluffy is done. The End. She's now with the faithful beta readers and it shouldn't be too much longer before we see a release date.
This is the longest Brimstone yet, at about 39K before edits. Huh. My little novella series is trying to turn into novels.
We're counting down now - less than a month before the release of The Mage on the Hill - eeeeee! I have blog posts to write and things to do, but I'm very excited to announce that Mage will also be launching in German. :D
Der Magier auf dem Berg should be available on or about the English language release date.
It's finally springy here while I type this, which puts me in a hopeful, green frame of mind. There are more daffodils this year, so my separation campaign has worked, though the squirrels seem to have stolen the tulip bulbs again despite the blood meal. Oh well.
In writing news, because you didn't come for a gardening blog:
The Amazon links are here for The Mage on the Hill! Up for pre-order now in all countries that I've checked (UK, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Australia, Canada) and releasing May 7.
Pre-order links are available everywhere else as well including, of course, at the publisher. :)
Barnes and Noble
The first box set of Offbeat Crimes stories releases this coming Tuesday at Pride Publishing. That's the first three books in the series for only $4.99. A steal if there ever was one.
The second set is due out April 16.
Chipping away at the current WIP's.
Progress is ongoing for Detonations and Devotions: Lijun 3, in which Tally and Haru just have a lovely life and nothing at all goes wrong. (If you are screaming liar, liar, pants on fire! at this point, you would be correct.)
Also making good progress on the next Brimstone, The Hunt for Red Fluffy. Looks to be about halfway there? I gave up predicting word count for Shax some time ago, though, so let's just say we're at least a third, possibly more.
I'm very excited for the release of this story on February 5 for so many reasons. :) Our Reading Day excerpt is just a little longer this week - come with me to Thailand!
Waiting On The Rain
by Freddy MacKay
One young man desperate to make things right for the monks who raised him. Another looking to escape the limelight. The two best friends stuck in time because of promises.
A couple looking to make a bigger unconventional family—one young woman who wants to help the world become a more beautiful place, one transwoman looking to put down roots for the both of them.
Love isn’t always easy, but the good kind is worth fighting for, even when others don’t understand it. The story of what becomes of their love is what will be passed down into legend. Because stories like this, people remember.
When Jira, Boon, Areeya and Fon come together to celebrate Yee Peng and Loi Krathong, sparks fly and dreams coalesce. But that’s only the beginning…
Which is now this year, of course, and time for me to tell you what's on the buffet for the coming months. The calendar list on the home page now shows 2019 - and you may notice there's not a lot on it yet. What the heck, Angel?
This is partly because I've only included things that have an actual or approximate release date so far, and partly because I'm trying so very hard not to over commit myself this year.
We'll see how that goes...
Coming up this month:
Other things I'm hoping for this year:
And that's it. That's all I'm saying about this year. Let the words fall where they may!
*deep breath in - deep breath out* OK, if you haven't seen yet, the release for Yule Planet was moved up to 12/22 - this Saturday. (!!!!) So, yay, early release!
Pre-order is up in all the pre-order places.
Join me and Sofia as she goes on the perfect holiday for the holidays - and, naturally, things go horribly wrong. :D
Escape From The Holidays
release date 12/22/2018
Also coming in Paperback!
Barnes and Noble
Sofia Cancino is tired of her mundane life, her artificial environment and her large, boisterous family descending every holiday season. She's promised herself this year will be different and books a stay on the exclusive—and expensive--holiday-themed resort, Yule Planet. She looks forward to being pampered while reconnecting with Old Earth traditions steeped in the magic and mysticism of nature. Everything will be perfect and she'll leave as a more authentic human, better connected to her roots.
Naturally, things go horribly wrong. Sofia's landing pod goes off course and instead of stepping out on the landing pad at the resort, she finds herself in the snow-swept perpetual winter of the planet's hinterlands. If that wasn't bad enough, she's "rescued" by a band of criminals on work release who run deliveries to the resort from far-flung shuttle delivery sites. They refuse to take her, a paying customer, to the resort and insist on dragging her along on their parcel run. Riding giant monsters. In frigid weather. Not to mention, Marta, who handles the monsters, obviously hates her.
If Sofia survives her vacation, she's definitely yelling at someone's supervisor until she gets a refund.
Happy December and Happy Friday! Today I have excerpts from the second set of Escape From The Holidays stories from MCB. This is a bit longer recording than I normally do - but this is something special. :)
I'm in that space now where nothing's really due, everything coming up is in edits, and I have room to work on all the things.
You know that means I've been baking and doing everything but starting something new, right?
To be fair, it is the holidays and I do have family obligations, but I can't let this go on too long. There are things to get back to.
So where am I now?
Look for Yule Planet next - coming later this month!
Happy Friday! This week, I have something special - readings from 5 (five!) holiday stories, the first five in MCB's Escape From The Holidays collection. Very short excerpts, but enough to sample some flavors. :)
It's that time of year - and once again, Mischief Corner Books has a lovely holiday collection of stories for you. :D Contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, science fiction with queer characters all along the rainbow and holidays that aren't just about Christmas - MCB brings you stories of people trying, in some way, to get away from the holiday grind.
Many of the stories have pre-order links - listed below! Releases begin November 28. :)
Happy Friday, everyone! A little bit of a reading for Dionysus from Books, Bulls and Bacchanals, the first story in the Brandywine Investigations: Family Matters. Poor Dio. Libraries are not his friends.
BRANDYWINE INVESTIGATIONS: FAMILY MATTERS
Barnes and Noble
The second Brandywine Omnibus contains books #4 and #5 (both full-length novels), plus a short story as a bonus.
With his career firmly established and his reputation as a successful PI growing, Hades should have the perfect life with his human lover, his faithful ferryman, his dogs and the parts of his family still speaking to him. But murder and chaos are never far away for death lords as his nephew Dionysus and his oldest friend Charon are drawn into the maelstrom.
Books, Bulls, & Bacchanals: Brandywine Investigations #4
The god of wine and orgies teams up with the librarian of the gods to investigate a murder. Should go well, don't you think?
Midwinter Dancing: Brandywine Investigations #4.5
Ing's grandmother has always told her about meeting the old gods. She's never believed it until one snowy midwinter night.
Pack Up the Moon: Brandywine Investigations #5
Death isn't working within normal parameters. Charon the ferryman needs to figure out why before it's too late, with or without the help of a certain, paws-in-everything raccoon god.
Please note: Books, Bulls & Bacchanals has been re-edited with a few story adjustments for this edition.
Angel writes (mostly) Science Fiction and Fantasy centered around queer heroes. Currently living part time in the hectic sprawl of northern Delaware and full time inside her head, she has one husband, one son, two cats, a love of all things beautiful and a terrible addiction to the consumption of both knowledge and chocolate.
