Hello and Happy Friday! Welcome to the final Reading Day of 2019! This week, I'm reading from the beginning of my new Lesbian Science Fiction Humor Holiday story, The Solstice Pudding. This one's for everyone who wants to know how Miteg sounds in my head. The Solstice Pudding
When Holidays Attack by Angel Martinez Mischief Corner Books Amazon Kobo Apple Paperback: Amazon Chief Engineer Shandi Leavenworth has been crushing on Major Tyra Sur ever since she joined station staff, though the laconic customs officer doesn't give up personal information easily. A few scraps of information leads Shandi to the perfect Solstice present, until of course everything goes horribly wrong. Major Sur took the job on Onwa Station for the stability, the quiet, and out of a need to be useful. It's been all of those things up until the woman she's been quietly flirting with at the bar puts in a desperate call for help. There's no question they need to save the station, but Tyra's not so sure about saving their budding relationship. Genre: Solstice, FF Romance, Science Fiction, Humor

Hello, everyone and welcome to a special Wednesday edition of Reading Day! (There'll still be Friday, too, so you get extra.) Today, I'm reading excerpts for you from the third and fourth stories in this year's Mischief Corner Books holiday collection - When Holidays Attack. The first is a YA/Middle Grade steampunk fantasy and the second is a paranormal story with a established poly triad. Come have a listen! Wind Me Up, One More Time by Kari Trenten Mischief Corner Books Amazon Kobo Barnes & Noble Apple When their home becomes too dangerous for them, Nathalie and Grace's mothers decide that Mama Morisot will move with the girls to the city of Verity while Mama Bibi stays behind. There, they find safety and friends—Nathalie in the dashing Maia and Grace in Theodora Bear—but all is not right in Verity. The gears of industry grind on relentlessly in the city, threatening to stifle creativity and magic, seeking to end childhood. One tragic blow at a time, Grace watches as the magic and love around her dies until she also begins to give into despair. It will be up to a stuffed bear and the magic of the holidays to remind Grace how vital imagination is in keeping her family whole. Genre: Christmas, FF Romance, Fantasy/Steampunk, YA/Middle Grade Ghosts, Gangsters and Garland
by Jana Denardo Mischief Corner Books Amazon Barnes & Noble Kobo Apple Zia, Dolores and Kane all possess the magic to fight monsters but all they want now is a nice Christmas break. Partners in life and at work as monster-slayers for a group known as the Clipeum, they’ve been risking life and limb keeping humanity safe. They’ve won their hard-earned vacation their boss has set up for them: a week in a small hotel in upper Wisconsin. Their boss mentioned in passing it used to be a gangster retreat in the heyday of prohibition. Married for some time, Zia and Dolores were surprised to have Kane in their life, first at work and now in their hearts. They’re looking forward to their first holiday today as a threesome and the ladies can’t wait to see their first pagan Yule celebration with Kane. All they want is some quiet relaxation. What they get is something entirely different. Gangster ghosts, would-be witches, over-enthusiastic children, animated snowmen and a century old former gangster moll who has a little spark still in her add up to a not-so-restful Christmas. Zia, Dolores and Kane trade comfy clothing and relaxation for spellcasting and ghost wrangling. Still they might just be able to rescue themselves a Merry Yule from all the chaos. Genre: Yule/Christmas, FFM Paranormal, Interracial, Ghosts Updated info on this year's holiday stories! Three are already available with the next one releasing this coming Tuesday. Some are also available in paperback! Amazon Barnes & Noble Kobo Apple The Solstice Pudding (12/17) by Angel Martinez (f/f science fiction humor, Solstice) Shandi Leavenworth, chief of small craft engineering, makes a series of Very Bad Decisions while trying to attract the interest of her long-time crush. Links coming soon! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! The Hunt for Red Fluffy is done. The End. She's now with the faithful beta readers and it shouldn't be too much longer before we see a release date. This is the longest Brimstone yet, at about 39K before edits. Huh. My little novella series is trying to turn into novels. We're counting down now - less than a month before the release of The Mage on the Hill - eeeeee! I have blog posts to write and things to do, but I'm very excited to announce that Mage will also be launching in German. :D
Der Magier auf dem Berg should be available on or about the English language release date. It's finally springy here while I type this, which puts me in a hopeful, green frame of mind. There are more daffodils this year, so my separation campaign has worked, though the squirrels seem to have stolen the tulip bulbs again despite the blood meal. Oh well. In writing news, because you didn't come for a gardening blog: The Amazon links are here for The Mage on the Hill! Up for pre-order now in all countries that I've checked (UK, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Australia, Canada) and releasing May 7. Pre-order links are available everywhere else as well including, of course, at the publisher. :) Amazon Dreamspinner Barnes and Noble Kobo iBooks The first box set of Offbeat Crimes stories releases this coming Tuesday at Pride Publishing. That's the first three books in the series for only $4.99. A steal if there ever was one.
The second set is due out April 16. Chipping away at the current WIP's.
Progress is ongoing for Detonations and Devotions: Lijun 3, in which Tally and Haru just have a lovely life and nothing at all goes wrong. (If you are screaming liar, liar, pants on fire! at this point, you would be correct.) Also making good progress on the next Brimstone, The Hunt for Red Fluffy. Looks to be about halfway there? I gave up predicting word count for Shax some time ago, though, so let's just say we're at least a third, possibly more. I'm very excited for the release of this story on February 5 for so many reasons. :) Our Reading Day excerpt is just a little longer this week - come with me to Thailand! Waiting On The Rain
by Freddy MacKay Kindle Unlimited One young man desperate to make things right for the monks who raised him. Another looking to escape the limelight. The two best friends stuck in time because of promises. A couple looking to make a bigger unconventional family—one young woman who wants to help the world become a more beautiful place, one transwoman looking to put down roots for the both of them. Love isn’t always easy, but the good kind is worth fighting for, even when others don’t understand it. The story of what becomes of their love is what will be passed down into legend. Because stories like this, people remember. When Jira, Boon, Areeya and Fon come together to celebrate Yee Peng and Loi Krathong, sparks fly and dreams coalesce. But that’s only the beginning… Which is now this year, of course, and time for me to tell you what's on the buffet for the coming months. The calendar list on the home page now shows 2019 - and you may notice there's not a lot on it yet. What the heck, Angel?
This is partly because I've only included things that have an actual or approximate release date so far, and partly because I'm trying so very hard not to over commit myself this year. We'll see how that goes... Coming up this month:
Other things I'm hoping for this year:
And that's it. That's all I'm saying about this year. Let the words fall where they may! *deep breath in - deep breath out* OK, if you haven't seen yet, the release for Yule Planet was moved up to 12/22 - this Saturday. (!!!!) So, yay, early release! Pre-order is up in all the pre-order places. Join me and Sofia as she goes on the perfect holiday for the holidays - and, naturally, things go horribly wrong. :D Yule Planet
Escape From The Holidays release date 12/22/2018 Also coming in Paperback! Amazon Barnes and Noble Kobo iBooks Sofia Cancino is tired of her mundane life, her artificial environment and her large, boisterous family descending every holiday season. She's promised herself this year will be different and books a stay on the exclusive—and expensive--holiday-themed resort, Yule Planet. She looks forward to being pampered while reconnecting with Old Earth traditions steeped in the magic and mysticism of nature. Everything will be perfect and she'll leave as a more authentic human, better connected to her roots. Naturally, things go horribly wrong. Sofia's landing pod goes off course and instead of stepping out on the landing pad at the resort, she finds herself in the snow-swept perpetual winter of the planet's hinterlands. If that wasn't bad enough, she's "rescued" by a band of criminals on work release who run deliveries to the resort from far-flung shuttle delivery sites. They refuse to take her, a paying customer, to the resort and insist on dragging her along on their parcel run. Riding giant monsters. In frigid weather. Not to mention, Marta, who handles the monsters, obviously hates her. If Sofia survives her vacation, she's definitely yelling at someone's supervisor until she gets a refund. Happy December and Happy Friday! Today I have excerpts from the second set of Escape From The Holidays stories from MCB. This is a bit longer recording than I normally do - but this is something special. :)
I'm in that space now where nothing's really due, everything coming up is in edits, and I have room to work on all the things.
You know that means I've been baking and doing everything but starting something new, right? To be fair, it is the holidays and I do have family obligations, but I can't let this go on too long. There are things to get back to. So where am I now?
Look for Yule Planet next - coming later this month! |
