Happy Thursday! Some fun things for this week. :D Thing #1 Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs is up for pre-order at Pride Publishing. Yaay! Release at the Pride website is September 5, and general release October 3. Audacity the kitten is back, and oh, and her daddy, Alex, might be back too, along with Jason and the entire 77th squad. Trouble with State Paranormal. Weird stuff in the city. A good time is had by all. Maybe. Thing #2 Tune in to the WROTE podcast tomorrow because someone left host Vance Bastian and I unsupervised. Mwahahahaha! We talk about Offbeat Crimes and lots of other things. An outtake for you to see how terribly serious we are about the whole thing: A couple of extra things about audio (!!)
Two audiobooks in the works for this fall. Vance Bastian has just signed on to do the voice work for Potato Surprise: A Brimstone Prequel, and MIchael Pauley will be doing the voice work for Uncommonly Tidy Poltergeists, so look for more on those coming soon! Something a little different today for reading day - a couple of poems from Langston Hughes. Please forgive my scratchy voice. The cold from heck decided to visit this week. We sometimes forget the power of poetry, both personal and social, in our modern world of sound bites and prose fiction but poetry can serve as a reminder, a connector, and an illuminator far greater than any tweet.
For more information on Langston Hughes and other writers of the Harlem Renaissance, a good place to start is here: Langston Hughes The poems I've selected for you are from The Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry (ed. 1973) and from the Academy of American Poets. Something unusual (for me) happened this week. A publisher offered me a contract on an unfinished story. I've certainly made promises to publishers before, but Pride has enough confidence in me that we've signed a contract on All The World's An Undead Stage (Offbeat Crimes #6) on the merits of the first chapter. I am pleased and humbled...
And slightly terrified. :o This is a deadline I must not, cannot miss. Ahem. Anyway, the new release dates for Undead Stage below: Preorder: 21st November Early download: 5th December General Release: 2nd January 2018 Jackalopes and Woofen-Poofs goes up for pre-order next Tuesday! Not a lot of new news this week, but some bits and pieces :)
Jackalopes and Woofen-Poofs - first round of edits are done and the line/proof edits should arrive by the end of the week. Uncommonly Tidy Poltergeists - Jack and Taro will be coming to audio later this fall! Michael Pauley has signed on to do the narration and voice work - so excited! So look for that probably late October/ early November. Pack Up The Moon - I've had to take a brain break from writing Offbeat Crimes this week. I've been writing nothing but the squad from the 77th since, oh, the beginning of the year? This week brain rebelled and writing stalled out. Switching gears to write some more of the next Brandywine story - so we'll see how far I get. :) Happy Friday! Today we have a little reading excerpt from Jackalopes & Woofe-Poofs: Offbeat Crimes 5. :) Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs Offbeat Crimes 5 Pre-order August 22 Pride publishing release September 5 General release October 3 Hoax animals and a consulting vampire on the prowl—Jason never thought having a cop boyfriend would be this hard. All Animal Control Officer Jason Shen ever wanted was a quiet life of rescuing lost kittens and helping animals in need. Having a paranormal cop boyfriend guarantees an end to the quiet part. What at first seems a random encounter with jackalopes in the park might be more than chance and when State Paranormal sends a handsome, charming vampire to consult with the Seventy-Seventh, he finds his relationship with Alex on shaky ground. Officer Alex Wolf hoped his humaning skills were improving but now he can’t unravel the strange politics at State Paranormal or why Jason’s family seems to hate him. There’s no time to puzzle things out either. Bizarre animals are loose in the city, Jason’s acting strange, and is the vampire captain from State flirting with him? Wolf’s going to have to keep his head in the game if he’s going to have any chance of putting the pieces together and keeping the city safe from the strange critters terrorizing its streets. All sorts of fun news for Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs: Offbeat Crimes 5!
