Yep. Working on it. :) I have such a beautiful cover for it courtesy of Natasha Snow, so I have to finish now.
From the Noblest Motives is a little over 60K and closing in on the end. What was planned out as a twelve chapter novel has become fourteen, I still have to go back and fill in some things, and the final word count after content editor gets hold of it is anyone's guess at this point. I'm just not a fast writer. All the writing advice in the world hasn't changed that over the years. I futz over words, over sentences, keep having different, sometimes better, sometimes additional ideas. So it's never a straightforward, damn the torpedoes, tally-ho! sort of enterprise. I'll get there. And then I've seen a mock up of the cover for book 3. So I better get a wiggle on.
Happy Friday, all! This week I have an excerpt from the newest S.R. Cronin novel, She's the One Who Won't Behave, #6 in her series The War Stories of Seven Troublesome Sisters. Alternative Universe historical, bi characters, poly relationships - hooray! Don't forget the giveaway at the end of the post and come have a listen. :)
She's The One Who Won't Behave
The War Stories of the Seven Troublesome Sisters by S.R. Cronin Books2Read Gypsum, the sixth of seven sisters, has always been a rebel. Yet no one thought she would go so far as to join the reczavy, a group living in tents on the edge of the desert and known for their sexual promiscuity and playful ways. But as the date of the Mongols’ return draws near, Ilarians of all types must work together if they are to have any hope of surviving. And the reczavy, for all of their odd ways, do have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. Well, up their sleeves whenever they are bothering to wear clothes, that is. Gypsum is touched when her oldest sister Ryalgar comes to call, and brings an olive branch with her. Ryalgar recognizes that the reczavy have as much to lose as anyone, and as much to contribute. Will Gypsum accept a key role in the plan to stop the invasion? Of course she will. Unfortunately, her playmates don’t all feel the same sense of urgency. Many would rather simply enjoy the time they have left. A few claim to be allergic to long term planning. And some are too busy with their own poorly-timed plans to overthrow the government Ilari already has. Good thing needlepoint is the one traditional skill at which Gypsum has always excelled. She will need to thread a fine needle in order to coax this recalcitrant group into becoming life-saving warriors of a very different kind.

It's Friday - hooray! Time for me to read to you. :) This week, we have the return of our friend, Ellie Thomas, and another m/m historical romance romp! This one is Regency, with, as Ellie puts it, "society parties, mistakenly sent letters, talking people out of fighting duels, and all that Georgette Heyer influenced malarkey..." Come have a listen! Twelve Letters by Ellie Thomas Universal Link JMS Books Amazon In Regency London, Jolyon Everett is determined to dissuade his irascible friend, Captain Ben Harding, from fighting a duel. With those trifles out of the way, he can concentrate on persuading Ben to reprieve young Edward Stephens, a newly qualified doctor, who Jo suspects has a serious crush on Ben. But the best-laid plans can go awry, as do the letters and, as well as a furious Ben, Jo finds himself at the mercy of an outraged Percy and an amorous tailor.
